Paris in Five Days: Experience the Best of the City

I still remember the thrill of stepping off the plane for my very first international solo trip—Paris had been on my bucket list for years, and finally being here felt like a dream come true. With its iconic landmarks like the Eiffel Tower and the Arc de Triomphe, plus a culinary scene that’s second to none, there’s always something new to discover. Whether it’s your first visit or your fifth, this walkable city has plenty of surprises waiting for you. The City of Light has an irresistible charm that keeps you coming back for more. This five-day itinerary is designed to help you make the most of your time in Paris, featuring recommendations on where to stay, what to see and do, and where to indulge in delicious meals along the way.

Where to Stay

Luxury Option: Hôtel San Régis

If you’re looking for a touch of elegance, Hôtel San Régis is a delightful hidden gem. Once a favorite of stars like Lauren Bacall and Gene Kelly, this five-star retreat offers personalized service that feels like a warm hug. Picture classic French décor—think floral Hermès wallpaper and antique portraits—plus suites with stunning views of the Eiffel Tower.

Mid-Range Option: Hôtel Square Louvois

For a blend of charm and comfort, Hôtel Square Louvois hits the mark. Nestled in a prime location near the Louvre, this hotel combines Haussmannian architecture with contemporary touches. You’ll find books by French literary icons scattered throughout, plus a lovely underground pool for some relaxation after a day of exploring.

Budget Option: Hôtel Jeanne D’Arc

Looking for something cozy and affordable? Hôtel Jeanne D’Arc is tucked away in a charming 17th-century townhouse in the trendy Marais district. With its vibrant, thoughtfully designed rooms, it’s the perfect spot for soaking up local culture. And don’t miss the chance to grab an evening apéro at the quaint Place du Marché-Sainte-Catherine nearby!

Day 1: Museum Marvels

Kick off your Parisian adventure with a cappuccino and croissant at PAUL’s—trust me, it’s the perfect fuel for a day of art. Head to the Louvre and plan to spend at least three hours wandering its vast halls (though some say you’d need three months to see it all!). After a cultural deep dive, treat yourself to gelato and a savory crêpe as you stroll through the beautiful Jardin des Tuileries.

In the afternoon, head over to the Musée d’Orsay, where Monet’s breathtaking works are bound to leave you in awe. And be sure to take a moment to admire the iconic clock—there’s something magical about watching the silhouettes of visitors coming and going beneath it; it’s one of my favorite sights in the city. To wrap up your day on a sweet note, treat yourself to some indulgent hot chocolate and macarons at Angelina Paris—you’ve earned it!

For dinner, pop into Bistro Des Tournelles, the perfect spot for a traditional French meal.

Montmarte

Day 2: Montmartre Magic and Moulin Rouge

Start your day with some of the best pastries in the city from Mamiche. Grab your breakfast to go and head toward Montmartre, soaking in the beautiful bridges along the way. Don’t forget to stop by the enchanting Wall of Love—such a sweet spot for a photo op!

Next, climb up to Sacré-Cœur for breathtaking views of the city. Take a moment to enjoy the scene, maybe with a drink in hand, before wandering the charming streets of Montmartre. The artistic vibe here is infectious!

For dinner, make a reservation at Le Moulin de la Galette, a must when in Paris. Then, cap off your night with a dazzling show at the Moulin Rouge. It’s an experience you won’t forget!

Day 3: Iconic Views and Literary Delights

On day three, it’s all about the sights! Grab some pastries and espresso to go and enjoy breakfast on the lawn in front of the Eiffel Tower. What a way to start the day!

Stroll along the Seine and admire the stunning bridges, especially the Pont des Arts. Swing by Notre-Dame to appreciate its beauty, even while it’s being restored. Book lovers will love a visit to Shakespeare & Co.—it’s like stepping into a cozy literary haven.

For lunch, grab a quick crêpe nearby and then wander to Île Saint-Louis for some of the best ice cream at Berthillon. You’ll be glad you did!

As the day winds down, hop on a Seine river cruise with a glass of wine in hand. And don’t forget to stop by the Eiffel Tower to see it sparkle at night—it’s a sight to behold! End your evening with dinner at Malro, where the Mediterranean flavors will leave you craving more.

Day 4: A Taste of Champagne in Reims

Take a scenic train ride to Reims and immerse yourself in the Champagne Valley. Whether you join a tour or explore on your own, the bubbly tastings will delight your palate.

Wander the quaint streets of Reims, soaking in the charm of its churches and local shops. Pick up a snack for the ride back and get ready for a delicious dinner at La Briciola, a cozy Italian spot that will steal your heart.

Versailles

Day 5: Splendor at Versailles

Your final day in Paris calls for a visit to the magnificent Palace of Versailles. Rent a rowboat on the gardens for a picturesque afternoon, and don’t forget to check out the cafes for a little treat. Plan for three to four hours of exploration—you’ll want to soak it all in!

Once back in Paris, indulge in some macarons from Ladurée on Avenue des Champs-Élysées.

For your farewell dinner, head to Café Charlot for their famous burgers. And to wrap up your Parisian adventure, enjoy a nightcap at the Little Red Door—a hidden gem where the cocktails are crafted with locally sourced ingredients.

A delightful five-day escape in Paris is perfect for soaking up the city’s charm and culture. I still remember wandering the streets, savoring every bite of a buttery croissant, and soaking in the magical atmosphere. It’s truly one of my favorite places in the world, and every visit feels like a new adventure waiting to unfold.
