To save you the trouble, I’ve rounded up the best hotels in Hawaii for 2025.
Whether you’re into luxury beachfront resorts, family-friendly stays, or budget gems that still deliver the aloha vibes, this list has something for everyone. These are the hotels I keep coming back to—the ones I recommend to friends, family, and now, you. Let’s dive in!
Best Hotels on Oahu
Luxury and Higher- End Options

The Ritz-Carlton Oahu, Turtle Bay: The North Shore is the quieter, more serene side of Oahu, and The Ritz-Carlton Turtle Bay captures that perfectly. Forgetting Sarah Marshall was filmed here, which gives it a fun claim to fame, but what really stands out is how relaxing it feels. You’re surrounded by lush landscapes and crashing waves—a perfect escape from the Waikiki hustle.

Halekulani Hotel: Halekulani is iconic for a reason. It’s elegant, timeless, and everything about it feels special. Their ocean-view rooms are worth every penny if you’re looking to splurge, and don’t even get me started on their coconut cake from Orchids—it’s legendary. This place is all about the little details that make your stay unforgettable.

Sheraton Waikiki Beach Resort: Sure, it’s a big hotel and gets busy, but the location is unbeatable. It’s right on Waikiki Beach, and the infinity pool has views that make you feel like you’re floating straight into the ocean. I’ve stayed here more times than I can count, and it’s always a solid choice.

OUTRIGGER Reef Waikiki Beach Resort: A personal favorite of mine, especially for families. The spacious rooms are great, and they’ve got fun cultural activities like lei-making and ukulele lessons. Plus, Monkeypod Kitchen is right on-site. Incredible ocean views, live music, and a laid-back vibe—it’s hard to beat.
A More Affordable Option

OUTRIGGER Waikīkī Paradise Hotel: Recently renovated at the end of 2024, this hotel is stunning. The rooms are modern and fresh, and its central location makes exploring Waikiki a breeze. It’s stylish without trying too hard, and the aloha spirit is alive and well here.
Best Hotels on Maui
Luxury Stays

Four Seasons Resort Maui: If you’ve seen Season 1 of The White Lotus, you already know this hotel is stunning. The luxury here is unmatched, from the impeccable service to the gorgeous oceanfront location. It’s definitely a splurge, but if you’re celebrating something big (or just want to feel like royalty), this is the spot.

Hotel Wailea: This adults-only retreat is all about peace and romance. The vibe is intimate and quiet, and the ocean-view villas take it to another level. If you’re after a sunset you’ll never forget, this is where you want to be.

The Westin Maui Resort & Spa, Ka’anapali: One of the best family-friendly resorts on the island, hands down. Their pools are next-level, and they’ve recently renovated the Kūkahi Tower to add Hana Hou—a cool social space with games and entertainment. It’s the kind of place that keeps kids and adults happy, which is no small feat.
Mid-Range Options

AC Hotel by Marriott Maui Wailea: A newer option that’s modern, clean, and perfect if you want luxury without the price tag of the big resorts. It’s super close to Wailea’s beaches, so you’re not missing out on anything.

Outrigger Ka’anapali Beach Resort: This is my go-to recommendation for families on Maui who want beachfront access without spending a fortune. The vibe is welcoming, and it’s perfectly situated on Ka’anapali Beach.
Best Hotels on the Big Island
Luxury Options

Mauna Kea Beach Resort: This hotel’s crescent-shaped beach is something out of a postcard. Even though they’re currently renovating parts of the property, I barely noticed during my last visit. The charm here is undeniable, and the snorkeling—including night swims with manta rays—is unforgettable.

Mauna Lani, Auberge Resorts: Luxury meets sustainability at this incredible resort. From their eco-friendly design to unique activities like sunrise canoe excursions, they’ve nailed the balance of indulgence and mindfulness.

Kona Village, A Rosewood Resort: Stunning bungalows, next-level service, and views that take your breath away. Everything here feels thoughtful—from the locally inspired decor to the incredible dining options. This is what Big Island luxury looks like.
Mid-Range Options

SCP Hilo Hotel: This eco-friendly gem is all about sustainability and wellness. It’s got a minimalist design, fresh local food, and it’s perfectly located for exploring Hilo’s best spots, like Rainbow Falls. The vibe is laid-back but thoughtful, making it a great choice for the conscious traveler.

Outrigger Kona: This is my go-to for work trips, but it’s great for anyone wanting oceanfront views without a hefty price tag. They recently updated the property in 2024, and it’s also an amazing spot for snorkeling with manta rays—seriously, don’t skip it.
Best Hotels on Kauai
Luxury Options

1 Hotel Hanalei Bay: This hotel is a dream for anyone who loves sustainability and luxury combined. I stayed here for a weekend, and between the yoga at sunrise, fresh local dining, and breathtaking views, it was worth every penny.

Grand Hyatt Kauai: Nestled on Poipu Beach, this resort is the full package. Tropical gardens, sprawling pools, and a lazy river—there’s something for everyone. It’s a classic for a reason.

Koloa Landing Resort at Poipu: Steps from Poipu Beach, this resort is ideal for families or groups. The spacious villas are great for cooking and hanging out, and the pools are some of the best on the island. It strikes the perfect balance between laid-back and upscale.
Mid-Range Options

Kauai Shores: If you’re on a budget but still want beachfront vibes, this is your spot. The retro decor is fun, and the beachfront dining at Lava Lava Beach Club is a treat. Plus, the Coconut Coast is such a cool area to explore.

The Royal Sonesta Kauai: Conveniently located near the airport, this hotel is right on Kalapaki Bay. The ocean views are stunning, and the pool area is perfect for unwinding. It’s a great base for exploring Kauai.
Best Hotel on Lanai
Ultimate Luxury

Four Seasons Resort Lanai: This is the ultimate escape. Lanai’s remote vibe makes it perfect for anyone wanting to truly get away. The Four Seasons Lanai is perched on a cliffside overlooking Hulopoe Bay, and everything about it feels exclusive. From the exceptional service to the pristine beach, this is luxury at its finest.
